Project #1

A Month’s Provision for a Poor / Orphan / Mentally Retarded / Physically Challenged / Old Aged / Visually Challenged Home with 200 inmates

For October 2009 month’s event, we visited Shri Ramakrishna Aathmalayam, Cholavaram, Chennai. At present, this organization takes care of nearly 200 inmates, who are Poor / Orphan / Mentally Retarded / Physically Challenged / Old Aged / Visually Challenged. This home provides free food, shelter, medical care and other basic needs of life to the inmates, besides providing school education to the children of the home. Children are studying in nearby schools and also in the residential school in the home. We provided a Month’s Provision for the home. We also provided them, Biscuits, Fruits and Savories on our Day of Visit (31st October 2009). We conducted vVarious games such as Drawing Completion, Balloon Bursting Competition, etc and awarded prizes for the children.


Project #2

Baby Soaps / Baby Shampoos / Baby Bath Soaps / Washing Soaps / Baby Huggies / Baby Sleeping Rubber Sheets / Fruits for a AIDS Orphan Home with 60 inmates

We had also visited the Community Health Education Society (CHES) (A Shelter Care for AIDS Orphans) on 31st October 2009. There are nearly 50 children, in which most of them are affected by HIV (Affected - Either Father (or) Mother of the Child died because of HIV, relations are not ready to adopt) and few of them are themselves infected by HIV. This home provides free food, shelter, medical care and education for the children till 5th standard in their campus itself.  Children who are studying above 5th Standard are going to Schools near the home. Mr.Muthupandi and his wife Mrs.Chitra, are taking care of this home and they are living along with them with their kids. We provided Baby Soaps / Baby Shampoos / Baby Bath Soaps / Washing Soaps / Baby Huggies / Baby Sleeping Rubber Sheets / Fruits. We also conducted Balloon Bursting Competition for the inmates of the home. It was real fun and they enjoyed it very much. 

Project #3 – Follow up Project

Unpaid Rent for Three months provided for a Poor/Orphan Children/Old Aged/Mentally Retarded/ Handicapped Home with 13 inmates

We already know this home (“Perumal – Subbaiah Memorial Orphan, Children, Old Aged and Handicapped Home – Karunai Illam”, with 10 inmates) and have already provided a month’s provision in May 2009 & August 2009 to this home. Last week we came to know that they have been struggling to pay their rent from September 2009. So, we provided the last three months Rent for this home. (September 2009 – November 2009).

 Project #4

Medical Aid for a Poor, Old aged and Orphan inmate of New Life Charitable Trust, Padappai. 

We came to know about Mr. Parameswaran, a 60 years old man, who is suffering from various ailments and also had a fall recently due to which he suffered a fracture. Doctors advised immediate operation on his spinal cord for his recovery. Since he would not be able to bear the Operation (being an orphan and inmate of New Life Charitable Trust) cost of Rs. 32,000/-, we provided Rs. 10,000/- as partial amount towards the operation cost. Since then, he has been operated upon and the doctors have said that he is recovering. We also attached the patient’s photo along with the Discharge Summary issued by the hospital.

Project #5

Educational Aid for a Visually Challenged Student

We came to know about a Visually Challenged Student Renuka N, who needs help for pursuing her education. She was referred by our partner organization “Disha Foundation”, Chennai and verified by their members Suganthi & Dharmalakshmi. She is doing B.Ed., in “Our Lady Madha College of Education”, Maduravoyal. She hails from Krishnapuram Village near Trichy. Her father is the sole bread-winner and is a farmer. She has three elder sisters, out of whom one is Visually Challenged named Radhika (Disha Foundation is already providing the educational aid for her). Renuka’s Total College fees is Rs. 50,000/- out of which she has got government scholarship for Rs. 10,000/- and is hoping to get bank loan of another Rs. 10,000/- Hence she is falling short of Rs. 30,000/- and needs our help for the same. We have provided the partial College Fees of Rs. 10,000/-. Our Special thanks to Disha Foundation Team (Ravi, Suganthi, Dharmalakshmi) for taking up the project and coordinating successfully.

Attached is the Contribution & Expenses Open Account Sheet with Bill number column, for your reference, along with the scanned bills. We appreciate your valuable Suggestions/Comments about the event to plan and improve our future events. The excess amount of Rs. 29,782.10 would be utilized for November 2009 month’s event.
