Project #1
Day-to-Day basic needs for Government Children’s Home for Girls @ Purasawakkam (A Shelter home for Poor / Missing / Abandoned / Neglected and Destitute Children and Women with 230 Inmates),
For October 2010 month’s event, we visited Government Children’s Home for Girls @ Purasawakkam on 31st October 2010. At present, this organization takes care of nearly 230 inmates, who are Poor / Missing / Abandoned / Neglected and Destitute Children and Women who are victims of immoral trafficking, between the age of 5 to 18 years. This home provides free food, education, shelter, medical care and other basic needs of life to the inmates, besides providing school education to the children of the home. Children are studying in nearby school and also in the residential school in the home. Mrs. Soundara Kumari, who is the Superintendent of this home, requested for day-to-day basic needs for these children. As per her request, we provided them day to day basic needs such as Umbrella and Plastic Pots. We also provided them Cakes, Biscuits and Savories on the day of our visit. We had conducted various games such as Kho Kho, Throw Ball, Talent Show, Drawing Competition, Train Game, etc. and awarded the prizes to them.

Educational Aid for a Sri Lankan Refugee Camp Girl K Saimanila, B.Sc., (Information Technology)
We have already provided the 2nd Semester & 3rd Semester College Fees of Rs. 16,000/- , per semester, for a Poor Sri Lankan Refugee Camp Girl named Saimanila K. She was referred by our partner organization “India Sudar Educational and Charitable Trust” (www.indiasudar.org), Chennai and verified by Mr. Udhaya Kumar (From India Sudar). Now, she is in her 4th Semester of B.Sc., (Information Technology) in N.M.S.S. Vellaichamy Nadar College, Nagamalai, Madurai. Her father is not living with them and her mother is working as Daily Wage Laborer and is taking care of the whole family. They are living in the Sri Lankan Refugee Camp @ Sivakasi. Her elder sister (Gokila) is working in Office at Indira Gandhi International Academy School (which is providing Free School Education for the Sri Lankan Refugees), Bangalore. Her three younger sisters are living in the Sri Lankan Refugee Camp and studying in the nearby Government Schools. Saimanila’s 4th Semester College Fees is Rs. 18,000/-, and she needed our help for the same. We have provided the 4th Semester College Fees of Rs. 18,000/-.

Partial Educational Aid for Balaji N. (Diploma in Computer Technology)
We came to know about a boy named N. Balaji hailing from a poor family living in Thiruninravur, Chennai. He was referred and verified by our volunteer Annapoorani, who has lost his father. His mother is working as Store Keeper and his brother has just now got a job. He is doing his 6th Semester of Diploma in Computer Technology (DCT) in Jaya Polytechnic College, Thiruninravur, Chennai. He is struggling to pay his college fees of Rs. 15,590/-. We have provided Partial College Fees for his 6th Semester amount to Rs. 5,000/-.

Partial Educational Aid for Sanjay Karthik G. (Diploma in Computer Technology)
We came to know about a boy named G. Sanjay Karthik hailing from a poor family living in Tiruppur. He got 95% in 12th Standard and 88% in 10th Standard Examinations. He was referred and verified by our volunteer Ramachandran. His father is working in a Baniyan Company in Tiruppur and earning Rs.4,000/- per month, and his mother is house wife. He is doing his 4th Semester of B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) in St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Kelambakkam, Chennai. He is struggling to pay his college fees. We have provided Partial College Fees for his 4th Semester amount to Rs. 5,000/-.

Food Expenses for Poor Physically Challenged Working Women of Thiyagam Women’s Trust, Madurai
Thiyagam Women’s Trust is providing free accommodation to Physically Challenged Working Women, who hail from poor background in rural areas around Madurai. They had been collecting Rs.400/- towards providing food for the physically challenged women who are working in the Thiyagam Tailoring Unit and Thiyagam
Computer Centre. We have been taking care of the Food Expenses for the 10 poor Physically Challenged Working Women since November 2009. We have provided Rs. 5,250/- towards the Food Expenses for the month of October 2010.

Reader arranged for a Visually Challenged Home @ Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh
We already know about this home (Andha Mahila Aasramamu @ Kurugunta Village, Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh). At present, this organization takes care of nearly 15 Visually Challenged Girls from age 15 to 30. This home provides free food, shelter, and other basic needs of life to the inmates. 6 girls are studying in 10th Standard, 8 girls are studying in 11th Standard and one girl is pursuing her degree. These students are struggling to learn their lessons due to the non-availability of Readers, since this home is in rural area. So, we have arranged a Reader to read the subjects for the Visually Challenged Girls on a daily basis for 2 hours and we will be paying a salary of Rs. 2,000/- per month for the Reader. We paid Rs. 2,000/- monthly salary for the Reader for the month of October 2010. Last year we had arranged a Reader for a period of Six months from November 2009 – April 2010.

Rent for November 2010 month provided for a Poor / Orphan Children’s Home with 22 Inmates @ Puzhal, Chennai
Vallalar Karunai Illam Home (Formerly “Perumal – Subbaiah Memorial Home”) was struggling to pay their rent. So, we have provided Rs. 1,000/- as Rent for the month of November 2010. We have already provided monthly provisions in May 2009, July 2009 and July 2010 to this home and also paid rent of this home from September 2009.
Attached is the Contribution & Expenses Open Account Sheet with Bill number column, for your reference, along with the scanned bills. We appreciate your valuable Suggestions/Comments about the event to plan and improve our future events. The excess amount of Rs. 38,899.35 will be utilized for the November 2010 month’s event.
